Middle School Minister
What is your favorite part of your job?
I love to be part of “equipping the saints for the work of ministry” (Eph. 4:12): to worship the Lord through Christ, walk in obedience in everyday life, and spread the gospel throughout whatever influence the Lord has entrusted to them.
How and when did you first come to Christ Fellowship?
My wife Sarah and I came to Christ Fellowship in June 2016. We wanted to join a sound local church in the Gadsden area to be part of advancing the gospel in this community, especially since Sarah was already in school here. We also wanted a place where we could be equipped and discipled for the work of ministry long term, and Deric (whom I have known since 6th grade!) was the perfect mentor for us.
Where are you from?
I was born in Atlanta, GA and grew up in Birmingham. Sarah and I moved to Gadsden from the Anniston/Oxford area, where she is originally from.
Who is in your family?
My wife Sarah and I currently have no children. I have three brothers, all who still live in Birmingham.
Short testimony about your relationship with Christ.
Like Timothy (2 Tm. 1:5), I had the privilege of hearing the gospel at a very young age. I knew that I was “dead” in my trespasses and sins in which I walked, but cast all my hope on Christ, who made me alive through the gift of faith in Christ’s work on my behalf (Eph. 2:1-10). Soon after my belief in Christ, I felt a desire and had the community around me affirm fitness for formal leadership in the church (1 Tm. 3:1-8). This, coupled with opportunities to pursue ministry experience and training, have yielded a call to full time ministry.
What’s your favorite Bible verse?
Rm. 5:1-5: “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”
What is the best place you have ever visited?
Boston and New York City. I love the diversity of the people, the history, and the city life they bring.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Istanbul, Turkey. Its breathtaking beauty is surpassed only by its fascinating history and strategic center at the crossroads of the East and West. It also represents many needs for ministry (over 99% Muslim) while retaining at least some freedom for Christian presence.
What books do you recommend?
Apart from the Bible and books to help understand it, Dickens’ Great Expectations
What are a few of your favorite things?
